Animals
Cosley Zoo maintains 20 exhibits, housing over 200 animals that represent over 70 species. Every exhibit provides guests with an educational, safe, and fun way to personally interact with nature.
Cosley Zoo exhibits a variety of domestic farm animals and Illinois native wildlife. Visitors can enjoy watching the activities of the curious red fox, playful raccoons, intriguing turkey vultures, adorable goats and much more. You can even see some "creepy crawlies" such as snakes, insects, frogs and turtles. Naturalistic habitats complete with trees and water features house the wild mammals, reptiles and birds.
New Pig & Poultry Exhibit
The original pig and poultry exhibits were constructed in the mid 1970’s and had been slated for replacement for more than 10 years. While the old exhibits served the zoo well for many years, they were difficult for staff to maintain and offered limited amenities. These new exhibits provide an updated home for both the pigs and chickens that reside at the zoo. In addition, the new facilities also provide space for the zoo’s rabbits as well as a wonderful new on-site clinic. While Cosley Zoo staff and their consulting veterinarians provide topnotch medical care for the zoo’s animals, it has been without the benefit of a dedicated or well equipped space.
This project made possible through the fundraising efforts of the Cosley Foundation.
